Outreach Committee Newsletter May

May Newsletter

St. Richard’s Episcopal Church has regularly brought food and other necessities to the Crestline branch of the Family Services Agency of San Bernardino County (otherwise known as the Crestline Food Pantry).  In an effort to respond more fully to the needs of the people using the food pantry, we have asked them to tell us what they need most.  In response to their needs, we are starting a new campaign.  Each month we will ask the church members to bring a different item, one that is greatly needed, to our outreach to our neighbors in Crestline.  This month we are seeking powdered and canned milk products.  We especially want powdered milk. Other ideas are chocolate drink mix and evaporated milk. You may think of others we have not yet considered.  Next month we will target another area of need.

St. Richard is partnering with Lake Arrowhead Presbyterian Church on Rebuilding Together on Saturday, April 29th.  We are pleased to announce that we have raised the $750 that we pledged to support Rebuilding Together.  Our collection of $750, plus the $750 pledged by Lake Arrowhead Presbyterian Church, will meet the necessary goal of $1500 needed to sponsor a house.  Rebuilding Together provides critical repairs to mountain residents who cannot afford repairs to keep their homes “safe, warm, and dry”.  We are excited to be involved in this worthy project again and grateful for your financial support and your physical help to our team as well.

Also, we are co-sponsoring a Red Cross Blood Drive with Lake Arrowhead Presbyterian Church on Sunday, April 30.  The event takes place just after church at the Lake Arrowhead Presbyterian Church.  Please join us in supporting the Red Cross with much needed blood donations.

We are in the process of planning our participation in the Rim Community Resource Network’s annual health fair.  The event takes place in Crestline on the tennis courts behind the library.  The past several years we have provided bean bag toss and bowling as well as face painting for children so that they can have fun while their parents are learning about maintaining  healthy life styles and visiting community vendors.  Please join us in this activity.  Sign-up sheets are in the Parish Hall.
