Outreach January, 2018
The Outreach Committee has been assisting the Mountain Homeless Coalition with the collection of hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, and tooth paste for bags for our homeless neighbors. The collection will continue through Sunday, January 14th. All items will be put in our bags of necessities for the homeless neighbor who we encounter on January 25th, during the county’s annual Point in time Count. Please look through your cabinets for anything appropriate that you would like to add.
The Mountain Homeless Coalition is co-hosting a community event, “Mountain Solutions to Poverty” on Sunday, January 7th, at 1:30 at the Lake Arrowhead Presbyterian Church. Kathy Estes, a nationally known speaker on the issues of poverty and homelessness, is the guest speaker. We will investigate how we can work together locally to help our neighbors. Refreshments will be served. All are welcomed.
The Mountain Homeless Coalition also looks the forward to assisting again with the county’s annual Point in Time Homeless Count on Thursday, January 25. We work from approximately 7:00 am until 11:00 am on that day, working in teams across the mountain from Green Valley Lake to Crest Park, surveying our homeless neighbors and giving them necessities.. If you are interested in volunteering to be on a team, please see Joyce Garrison or Sue Walker.
