Greetings from the Outreach Committee!
During the month of April, St. Richard’s along with the Lake Arrowhead Presbyterian church sponsored a house in Crestline for Rebuilding Together day! Thank you all who donated time and/or money for this very important community project. Here is a statement from Becky Beavers on the event:
“On a gorgeous Saturday in late April, our church sent a team to a home in Crestline and joined with close to 50 volunteers in cleaning, repairing, and beautifying the home as part of a community-wide work day for Rebuilding Together. We worked hard, along with teams from Lake Arrowhead Presbyterian Church, Lake Gregory Community Church, Twin Peaks Community Church, and youth from Mountain Fife and Drums. The home owner was a single woman who struggles to stay independent while battling MS. Together our team sanded and stained much of the outside of her home, cleaned up the yard, filled a huge dumpster with tree slash and roofing material and pine needles, etc. We washed windows, cleaned the kitchen, stacked wood, stripped and painted a bench, built a shed and transferred stuff from an old shed to the new one. Meanwhile the contractors on the job had cut down a tree, finished replacing the roof and poured a back deck. And most of that was done before lunch! What an amazing crew. Becky Beavers was our volunteer coordinator and August Ambrozic was the general contractor in charge of the house. Thanks to the donations from so many in the church and across the mountain, about six or more houses each year can be practically “rebuilt,” making a big difference in the lives of some of our mountain neighbors. Thank you to everyone who gave financial support and to all who came out and helped on the Saturday, answering God’s call to love our neighbors as ourselves.”
During the month of May we represented St. Richard’s along with the Mountain Homeless Coalition at the Crestline Community Health Fair. We provided bottled water for the children, resource information, and donated blankets and towels to whoever needed them.
During the month of June and July the theme for the food collection is pasta and sauces. However any non perishable food donations are appreciated.
Our Outreach Committee meeting will be Sunday, July 1st, 9 am between the Church services. All are welcome to attend and/or participate. Your input is valuable and welcomed!
