In the score for “Camelot” Lerner & Loewe crafted a robust song entitled “The Merry, Merry Month of May”…hopefully we can all share that enthusiasm as Spring elides into Summer and many of our friends will be returning to the mountain.
There has been a lot going on here at St. Richard’s. The refurbishment of the Rusack Retreat Center is nearing completion. A Triptych painting depicting St. Richard of Chichester which was commissioned by our prior Vicar, Rev. Shelley Denney, was completed and presented to the church by Mr. Joe Wheatley, a former member of our congregation. The paining, which includes faces of various members of the church, is now prominently displayed in the parish hall. Our thanks to Mr. Wheatley for his dedication to this project and his sharing of his talent with us! We participated in “Rebuilding Together” on April 30th and worked with our friends from the Presbyterian Church to refurbish a home for a disabled veteran. May 15th, The Feast of Pentecost, will be a major celebration with one parish liturgy at 9:30 a.m. with a reception following the service. Jim & Nancy Rogers will celebrate their 65th Wedding Anniversary on Pentecost and their daughter, Rev. Deborah M. Rogers will be here to co-celebrate the liturgy and celebrate her 64th birthday!
On May 22nd at 4 PM, St. Richard’s will host a one and a half hour concert presented by Undergraduate and Masters Students from Cal State Fullerton. Consisting of 15 performers (including Rim HS Alumni-Jeffrey Gumpertz, Stephen Ragsdale, Jessica Ragsdale and Joshua Phillips) the program will feature a mix of cellos, wood winds and brass as well as a jazz trio of sax, piano and drums. The concert is seeking donations to help fund part of a 10 day concert tour in Seoul, South Korea. Please join us for a musical afternoon interlude to support a worthy cause. Donations for this event can be made at St. Richard’s on the day of the concert.
