The first few weeks of June are the prologue to summer. Summer, for many folks spells vacation/free time/ stepping out of the Daily Grid for at least some period of time. Experiencing “leisure time” is a restorative process that we do not enter into on a regular basis – “no time, too busy.” However if we viewed leisure as the basis for culture, the opportunity to appreciate the beauty in our lives, we could expand leisure to include contemplation; a surrender to the quiet workings of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Leisure provides listening in quietude – listening to the guidance of the Spirit. So as we begin summer, perhaps we can open ourselves to allow leisure to take a front seat in our lives.
The leisure to listen to the God in us and the others that around us.
God bless and have a great summer.
